Group 4 is a group of elements in the periodic table. It contains the elements titanium (Ti), zirconium (Zr), hafnium (Hf) and rutherfordium (Rf). This group lies in the dblock of the periodic table.
It is the only group in the Periodic Table that contains all of the states of matter at room temperature. Fluorine, F 2, is a gas, as is chlorine, Cl 2. Bromine, Br 2, is a liquid and iodine, I 2, and astatine, At 2, are both solids.
Group 3A (or IIIA) of the periodic table includes the metalloid boron (B), as well as the metals aluminum (Al), gallium (Ga), indium (In), and thallium (Tl). Boron forms mostly covalent bonds, while the other elements in Group 3A form mostly ionic bonds.
